Terms & License

Last updated October 2026

These terms cover using Libraries.dev — the seven free, open-source effect libraries, and the paid Pro and Business plans with the Studio, the Pro skill and Pro content. By using the site or subscribing you agree to them. In short: the open-source libraries are free for everyone; Pro is for individuals working for themselves, and any company uses Business; a subscription bills until you cancel; and what you've already downloaded stays yours.

Using the libraries

The seven libraries as published on npm are open-source packages released under the MIT License. Install them, modify them, and ship them in unlimited personal and commercial projects.

Pro content — the Studio and its agent, the Pro skill, Pro presets, variants and recipes, and everything else unlocked by a paid plan — may likewise be used in unlimited personal and commercial projects, under a plan that fits who you are (see Who each plan is for below). The one thing you may not do is redistribute the Pro content itself — you can't repackage, resell, or publish the Pro presets and recipes (or a substantial part of them) as a competing library, template pack, or component kit. Use them in your products, not as a product of their own.

Who each plan is for

The open-source libraries are free for everyone, companies included. The paid plans are licensed by who is using them:

  • Pro is an individual license. It is for one person working for themselves: a solo builder, or a freelancer, including the work a freelancer does for their own clients. It covers that one person and cannot be shared.
  • Any company or organization needs Business. If the paid content is used by or for a company, studio, agency, startup, nonprofit or other organization, that organization must hold a Business plan, whatever its size — including a company of one person. This applies when the company pays for the plan, when an employee or contractor uses it for the company's work, or when the company's products are built with it.
  • One seat per person. Every person in the organization who uses the paid content needs their own Business seat. Seats can't be shared between people, though the owner can reassign a seat when someone leaves.
  • Moving from Pro to Business. If you bought Pro but this section says you need Business, you may keep Pro until the end of the billing period you've already paid for, then upgrade from the pricing page. When you upgrade, your Pro subscription ends automatically and its unused time is credited toward Business.

Libraries Pro and Business

Both paid plans unlock the Studio — deep, per-library customization of all seven libraries with a built-in AI agent — plus the Pro skill for your coding agent and the Pro content: presets, variants, recipes and guides, delivered on the site, through the skill and through downloads, with every update released while your plan is active. Business includes everything in Pro for every seat, plus the team MCP server, priority support and a larger Studio agent allowance.

  • Billing & renewal. Pro and Business are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe and renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Prices are shown on the pricing page and at checkout.
  • Lifetime. Pro is also sold as a lifetime plan: a one-time payment, no renewal, nothing to cancel. It covers access to the Studio, the Pro presets and variants, the Pro skill and every future update, for as long as we operate the service. Studio agent credit is not part of a lifetime purchase: lifetime accounts get a limited agent allowance, monthly and capped in total (see The Studio agent and its monthly allowance below), which we may change or end at any time and which only runs while the service does. Models: a lifetime plan includes 12 months of commercial use of every model from the purchase date, including models released in that time. After the 12 months, builds already released may stay available, and a new release that ships a model needs a Pro or Business subscription. Lifetime plans bought before 27 October 2026 cover every model with no end date. The Model License has the full terms. Business is monthly or yearly only. Team lifetime plans bought before October 2026 keep their 5 seats.
  • Updates. While your plan is active you receive new libraries, Studio improvements, and new Pro content at no extra charge.
  • You keep what you've downloaded. Cancelling stops future access, downloads, and updates — but any files already added to your projects continue to work and remain licensed under the terms above.

Cancellation & refunds

You can cancel any time from your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for; we don't prorate partial periods. If something's wrong — a double charge, a technical problem that stops you using Pro — email jakubja@gmail.com and we'll make it right, including a refund where fair. EU/EEA consumers may have a statutory right of withdrawal; by starting to download Pro content immediately you acknowledge digital delivery begins at once.

Business seats

A Business plan includes 3 seats, and more can be added, billed per seat. The owner invites members up to the seat count (a pending invitation reserves a seat), manages roles, and can add or remove seats, which adjusts billing accordingly.

  • Each member gets full Pro access while they belong to an active Business plan.
  • Removing a member, or the plan's subscription ending, ends that person's access — again, already-downloaded files keep working.
  • The owner is responsible for who they invite, for giving a seat to everyone in the organization who uses the paid content, and for the plan's billing.

The team MCP server

Business includes an MCP server that connects your team's coding agents to your brand kit, your team's Studio presets and the Pro references. Each member connects with their own token from npx libraries-dev mcp; it is personal to that seat, must not be shared or committed to a repository, and stops working when the member leaves the team or the plan ends. Presets a member saves, in the Studio or through the server, and the brand kit are visible to everyone on the same team. The server does not run an AI model for you: your own agent does the work, under its provider's terms.

Your account

Accounts use passwordless email sign-in. Keep access to your email secure — anyone who can receive your sign-in link can access your account. Don't share credentials, probe or abuse the service, attempt to bypass the entitlement checks, or scrape the Pro content. We may suspend accounts that do. How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.

The Studio Beta

The Studio is the browser tool where Pro and Business members customize each library in detail. It is an early Beta: provided for evaluation and everyday use, but panels, parameters, and its behavior may change, regress, or be removed at any time without notice. We make no guarantee that it will be available, stable, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose.

Configurations and code you export from the Studio are yours to use under Using the libraries above.

The Studio agent and its monthly allowance

The Agent tab sends your request to an AI model that tunes, or rebuilds, the effect for you. Its use is measured in credits, which track the model usage a request costs: a simple tuning request uses about one credit, and a request that rebuilds an effect's core can use up to about twenty. Use is limited per account per calendar month. On Pro: 300 credits and at most 150 agent requests. On Business, per seat: 800 credits and at most 400 agent requests. On a lifetime plan: 100 credits and at most 50 agent requests a month, up to 3,000 credits in total over the life of the account. Once that total is used the agent stays off for the account, while the rest of the Studio keeps working. This allowance is not part of what the lifetime payment buys; a subscription or Business seat on the same account gets that plan's allowance instead. When a monthly limit is reached the agent stops answering until the first day of the next month, while the manual controls, presets and everything else in the Studio keep working. Unused allowance does not carry over, is not refundable, and is not a quota you own — we may change the limits, and the model behind the agent, as the Beta evolves. The agent may also decline requests unrelated to the effect in front of you.

Code the agent writes (a rebuilt core) runs in your browser and, if you export it, in your app; it is provided as-is under No warranty below, and it is yours to use under Using the libraries above.

No warranty & limitation of liability

In this section, "the Software" means everything Libraries.dev provides: the seven open-source libraries, Pro content, the Pro skill, the Studio, code and configurations you export from it, code the Studio agent writes, and the website itself.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Software is error-free, secure, compatible with your stack, or that it will keep working the way it does today.

You are responsible for how you use it. The Software runs inside your project, alongside your code, on devices and browsers we do not control. It is up to you to review, test, and decide whether it is suitable before you ship it. If the Software — or a new version of it, or something it interacts with — breaks or degrades your project, website, application, build, data, or anything else, that is a risk you accept by using it. We are not obliged to fix, support, or maintain the Software, and we may change or remove any part of it, including in ways that are not backwards compatible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Libraries.dev, its authors, contributors, and copyright holders shall not be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability — whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential, and including lost profits, lost revenue, lost work, lost or corrupted data, downtime, the cost of substitute software, or damage to your reputation or your users — arising from or in connection with the Software or its use, even if we were told such damages were possible. If we are found liable despite this, our total liability for all claims together is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or, for the free libraries, to zero.

You will defend and hold us harmless against claims by third parties that arise from your use of the Software or from products you build with it. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded; where that applies, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
